Project Management with Sally Pewhairangi

Team Leader: Essential Skills with Jim Anderson
4-6 August Auckland

The aim of this programme is to provide the essential skills required to lead a team that is directly involved in the front line of an organisation, particularly supervisors and team leaders newly appointed to their position. This programme is one of the modules that make up the NZIM National Certificate in Business Level 4. The other two are Team Leader: Building Effective Teams and Team Leader: Operational Leadership. Attendance and completion of assessments for these three modules qualifies for issue of the NZIM National Certificate in Business Level 4.

Learning outcomes include:
 Train and coach team members
 Implement time management techniques and practices
 Employ core communication skills, including listening and giving feedback
 Understand how to delegate and ensure tasks are completed as agreed.

Lean Six Sigma Yellow & Green Belt with Chris Reed

The Green Belt level is a Lean Six Sigma practitioner's course and enables participants to continue (from Yellow Belt) or start their process improvement journey. Typical target audiences are candidates from within a company or self employed that are looking to add lean and problem solving toolkits and roadmaps to their current skill-set to enable them to complete continuous improvement projects. Suitable candidates could come from all levels in an organisation depending on the focus for process improvement. The Green Belt course builds onto the one day Yellow Belt course offered by NZIM or can be taken as a separate standalone course. Covered over nine days, Green Belt covers a Lean Six Sigma fully blended version of DMAIC and overview course of Design for Six Sigma using Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify (DMADV).

 Testing & verification of improvements
 An in-depth understanding of key DMAIC topics & tools
 Fundamentals of Lean & Six Sigma with 'real world' examples
 Navigate through projects using DMAIC & DMADV roadmaps

Introduction to Management with Mark Greaney

The programme's objective is to enable the new manager to set high standards early, practise good management habits, and learn effective approaches to get the best from themselves and from the people they manage in the shortest possible time. This is a good starting programme for any manager who lacks formal training or anyone seeking a career in management. Introduction to Management is also linked to the NZIM National Certificate in Business - Level 3. As one of three modules, including Effective Business Writing and Interpersonal Communication Skills, attendance and completion of assessments for all three modules qualifies for issue of the National Certificate in Business - Level 3.
