 TOLL NZ Consolidated has been running the Front Line Manager Level 5 Programme for the past 4 years with increasing success. We have used the programme to support our middle level managers from all areas of the business.
TOLL NZ Consolidated is a logistics company with five different business units under its umbrella, these include; Toll TranzLink, Toll Rail, Passenger, Interislander and Hillside Engineering. All of these business units operate slightly differently yet have the TOLL NZ Consolidated common objective to offer customers the “total logistics solution….”
Prior to the Front Line Manager programme we were suffering from a lack of essential management skills within this level in the Company. The Front Line Manager Programme in conjunction with NZIM provided us with the opportunity to build proficiency resulting in the business moving further, faster. The progression speed of FLM graduates within the Company as compared to non-FLM graduates is much quicker.
From a standing start in 2003 where we had to convince employees to join the programme to 2007 where we already have a waiting list for 2008 the Front Line Manager programme it has been an interesting and exciting journey! In addition to the current Level 5 programme we have now this year commenced three Level 4 programmes for our Team Leaders and have plans for a Level 3 programme as well. The partnership that we have developed with NZIM really is a success story for TOLL NZ Consolidated.
