The Strategy Wheel

 BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Strategic Planning is an often misquoted concept in today’s business environment. What many organisations perceive to be a Strategic Plan can be little more than a tactical Business Plan?  Companies that don’t have a genuine Strategic Planning process may not achieve their potential in their current markets; and those that they could be operating in.

Other elements to consider in strategy development and execution are:

  • Focusing on sustainable position in your current market and in the future growth markets that you choose to be a part of
  • Expanding your horizons so you look for new markets and product/service offerings that you offer which may be domestic and international
  • Having a good planning and execution process that enables you to convert your “Strategic Ideas” into real growth for your company
  • Making your strategy understood and having the ability to summarise your Strategic Plan and Goals into a manageable sized document

 TARGET AUDIENCE

Strategy is not only the domain of the CEO or Management Team; it should be viewed as a cross functional process whereby anybody who has a senior position or major influence on the outcome of the company’s performance in the future will benefit. This New Zealand developed programme is specifically for SME’s including senior executives, marketing executives, sales people, finance and operational people within the organisation.

 LEARNING OUTCOMES

After successful completion of this programme, it is expected you will be able to:

  • Understand the generic Strategies and how your company can align to one of these
  • Redefine the Strategies for your business based on the priority market segments identified
  • Understand the competencies required in your organisation to meet your strategic goals
  • Learn methods to gain these strategic competencies including analysis of Acquisitions, Joint Ventures and Strategic Alliances
  • Learn the different methods to summarise your Strategic Plan into a “Strategy Map” to make it more explicit
